High Falls, originally uploaded by stevebabbitt. The power of the Genesee River as it falls 96 feet at High Falls prompted the growth the flour mills and other businesses in the 1800’s.

Because of the Flour Mills at High Falls, Rochester received the name, “the Flour City” in the 1800’s.

The Pont de Rennes Pedestrian Bridge is the best way to get a view of the gorge and High Falls.
